dir. François Descraques
Based on his successful web series of the same name, director Descraques makes his feature debut exploring the moral dilemma of whether the needs of the many really do outweigh the needs of the one.
Alice (Enya Baroux) is an eco-conscious young woman concerned about her father’s involvement in building a nuclear power plant. One night she and her dad are kidnapped by rebel time travellers intent on preventing the catastrophic fallout from when the plant explodes and – whilst evading capture by time travelling police enforcement – Alice must decide whether to save her father’s life, or the whole world.
A whimsical portrayal of the apocalypse, this French language sci-fi-comedy charts how far an individual would go to prevent calamity. The comic timing of the actors across different time-scapes is precise while avoiding crossing into slapstick. As such although the plot isn’t earth shatteringly new, Visitor is nevertheless a sweet, graphic-novel style depiction of personal morality choices.
